Kristina Fucini, healthy eating

Kristina Fucini has been serving food since she graduated high school. Now she’s looking forward to a bright career teaching healthy eating habits.

Kristina began working at restaurants straight out of Brunswick High School. She’s now studying Dietetics & Nutrition and hopes to get into community dietetics with a school, a public health organization or maybe as a health coach when she graduates and enters the workforce.

It was scary for her to come to college more than a decade after graduating from high school.

“I’ve known forever this is what I want to do, and I finally decided to stop putting it off. There are only two programs in Maine for dietetics, and 91ÖÆƬ³§ was close, a lot less expensive and it gives you a well-rounded view of the dietetics world.”

Rachel Parse, believing the mission

Rachel Parse came to 91ÖÆƬ³§ because she believes in 91ÖÆƬ³§’s mission and the opportunities we provide students.

Dr. Parse was hired in 2014 and serves as chairwoman of the Early Childhood Education academic program. She previously served as a pre-school director, directed a nature-based pre-school program, taught first and second grade, and worked in curriculum development.

She has degrees from Rutgers and Old Dominion, and a Ph.D. from the University of New Hampshire.

“With an on-site child care center in our building, students get to experience first-hand what they’re studying. We’re a tight-knit community among faculty, students and the children in our child care center. “
