Katie Wing, the sky鈥檚 the limit
Katie Wing鈥檚 life began taking off in a good way when she enrolled at 91制片厂鈥檚 Midcoast Campus. Now she鈥檚 excelling at Smith College.
Seeking a better future for herself and her daughter鈥攂ut not knowing exactly what she wanted to do鈥擪atie enrolled at 91制片厂 after moving from her hometown of Lewiston to Brunswick several years ago. There, she discovered she could do a lot.
Her time at 91制片厂 was such a success that she earned a scholarship to the prestigious Ada Comstock Scholars Program at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she is now in her second year. She鈥檚 the Ada Comstock class vice president and a student senator and her photo was even put on the cover of a recent Smith College admissions publication.
After she graduates from Smith, Katie plans to enroll in graduate school and earn a master鈥檚 in Public Policy.
鈥淭he Midcoast Campus challenged me to be comfortable with the discomfort that comes with personal growth, and to dare to dream. The campus provided me with the tools I needed to succeed and has set me and my daughter on a completely different path in life.鈥�
Student Spotlight
Autumn Theriault, future teacher
Autumn Theriault wasn鈥檛 sure of her calling until she volunteered at her children鈥檚 elementary school. Now she鈥檚 preparing to become a teacher.
College wasn鈥檛 in the cards when Autumn graduated high school, so she worked for the state for seven years in a job she didn鈥檛 particularly like. It wasn鈥檛 until she spent time in her children鈥檚 classes that it became clear she wanted to be a teacher.
Now in her second year in 91制片厂鈥檚 Education program, Autumn will graduate next spring. After that, she鈥檒l transfer to the University of New England to earn her bachelor鈥檚 degree to fulfill her dreams.
When she鈥檚 not in class, Autumn is active in the Phi Theta Kappa honor society while staying busy as a waitress and a mother of two children.
She says she鈥檚 always told her children to go after their passions鈥攂ut until she came to 91制片厂 she wasn鈥檛 doing the same.
鈥淚 wasn鈥檛 setting a good example for them, and it was bothering me. But now I鈥檓 going after my dreams.鈥�
