Legislators meet with students, president
91制片厂 students are being given the rare opportunity to meet with state legislators in small groups and let them know what a college education means to them and to advocate for 91制片厂.
Lawmakers met with President Cantor and Dean of Effectiveness and Engagement Kaylene Mitchell in a series of meetings last week to learn about the state of the college and its achievements. The legislators then met with small groups of students and learned about their experiences.
The meetings were held last week on both the South Portland Campus and the Midcoast Campus in Brunswick. Additional meetings are scheduled this week as well as in late February and early March.
Community Caf茅 gains momentum
Hundreds of 91制片厂 students, faculty, staff and community partners will gather this week to brainstorm ideas about the future of 91制片厂.
The college is holding a 鈥淐ommunity Caf茅鈥 in the HUB gymnasium, where participants will gather in groups to help 鈥渃o-create 91制片厂鈥檚 future鈥 as part of the college鈥檚 new strategic plan.
The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13. All classes will be suspended and offices will be closed after 1 p.m. to allow people to participate.
At the Caf茅, people will gather around 100 tables and share ideas about what 91制片厂 should look like in the years ahead. The ideas will be synthesized and analyzed for common themes and will become the foundation of the college鈥檚 strategic plan for the next 3-5 years.
The aim is to have the plan finalized by the end of summer.
A professional facilitator will moderate the event. Popcorn, snack food and beverages will be served.
And in a random drawing, one lucky student in attendance will win a reserved parking spot for one month.
