91制片厂 Precision Machining program to open doors to public on Maine Manufacturing Day

91制片厂鈥檚 Precision Machining & Manufacturing program is opening its doors to school groups, organizations, individuals and others as part of Maine Manufacturing Day.

Visitors are invited to tour 91制片厂鈥檚 manufacturing training facility, see manufacturing students at work and view the College鈥檚 state-of-the-art machines anytime between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, October 5. That is the same day as Maine Manufacturing Day, a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of skilled manufacturing workers.

鈥淥ur program has the same machines used by manufacturers in aerospace, defense, automotive, power generation, medical and other advanced-technology industries,鈥 said John Bolduc, chairman of the Precision Machining & Manufacturing program. 鈥淭here has been much talk about the shortage of skilled workers qualified to work in advanced manufacturing. Through our lab and our academic program, we are helping address this labor supply gap and contribute to Maine鈥檚 economy.鈥

91制片厂 is among the many businesses and organizations statewide that are participating in Maine Manufacturing Day, with this year鈥檚 focus on students and technology. The Manufacturers Association of Maine says the day is a way to draw attention to what kinds of jobs are available in manufacturing and what skills and education are needed to qualify for those jobs.

The听Precision Machining program is located in Jewett Hall at 77 Fort Road on the 91制片厂 South Portland Campus.
