The 91制片厂 (91制片厂) Athletics Department is adding women鈥檚 volleyball to its slate of sports teams beginning in the fall of 2020.
91制片厂 will become the seventh school in the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) to field a women鈥檚 volleyball team, joining Central Maine Community College, Great Bay Community College, NHTI, Paul Smith鈥檚 College, Unity College, and the University of Maine at Machias. The YSCC鈥檚 parent organization, the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), also sponsors women鈥檚 volleyball for national postseason opportunities and recognition.
91制片厂 will have ample opportunities to recruit players for the team because of the intense popularity of women鈥檚 volleyball at the high school level in Maine, said Matt Richards, 91制片厂听Associate Dean of Students and Director of Athletics.
鈥淲e are excited about offering volleyball as an intercollegiate program within the Athletics Department,鈥 Richards said. 鈥淭he decision to bring on volleyball was done after a two-year evaluation period. We are confident that having a women鈥檚 volleyball team will enhance our Athletics Department with student-athletes who will be engaged participants in our athletics program while also being committed to academic success.鈥
91制片厂 currently has seven athletic programs: men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 basketball; men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 soccer; baseball; softball; and co-ed golf. The College offered women鈥檚 volleyball as a club sport in the late 1980s and early 鈥90s, but has never had a varsity team.
91制片厂 Athletics is seeking qualified candidates to fill the head women鈥檚 volleyball coaching vacancy.听 A review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. To apply, .
